Contact UsHow an order goes from question to a running service
Most of the questions above are about one step of the same path. Here is the whole path in order, with the timings already stated on this page.
-
Choose a service
Hosting, VPS & cloud servers, dedicated servers, web design or mobile apps. Compare the options on the hosting page or write to us first if you are unsure which one fits.
-
Pay through Paymob
Pay by Visa or Mastercard bank card, or with Apple Pay. The payment is handled by the licensed gateway, and you confirm the no-refund terms at checkout before paying.
-
Wait for activation
Hosting plans activate right after payment. VPS and cloud servers are usually ready within 1-4 hours. Dedicated servers take 24-48 hours because the hardware is configured for you.
-
Log in and move in
Your login details arrive by email. New hosting and server customers can ask for free migration help to bring over a website, databases and email accounts, through the contact page.
-
Renewals, on your terms
You get an email reminder before each renewal and can stop the renewal from your account before the next billing date. The period you paid for stays active. Details are in the Subscription Terms.
The terms in these answers, explained
Hosting has its own vocabulary. This is what each term means in general, so you can judge any offer, ours or another.
- TLS / SSL certificate
- A file that proves a site really is the one named in the address bar and encrypts the traffic between browser and server. Certificates from Let's Encrypt are valid for 90 days, which is why renewal has to be automatic.
- Uptime
- The share of a period during which a service is reachable. A 99.9% figure measured over a year leaves room for under nine hours of downtime in total.
- Nginx
- Web server software that answers browser requests and hands dynamic pages to PHP or Node.js. It is built to hold many connections open at once with little memory.
- Control panel
- A web interface for everyday server work such as domains, databases, files and certificates, so you do not need the command line for routine tasks.
- VPS
- A virtual private server: your own operating system and resources on a physical machine that is shared with other virtual servers.
- Dedicated server
- A whole physical machine used by one customer only, with no neighbours competing for the processor, memory or disks.
- Root access
- The administrator account of a Linux server. It can change anything, which also means the responsibility for updates and security settings is yours.
- DNS
- The system that turns a domain name into a server address. A change spreads as other networks let their cached copy expire, which can take from minutes to a day.
- Recurring billing
- A saved card is charged again automatically at each renewal, so you do not pay by hand every period. The renewal can be stopped before the next billing date.
- Migration
- Moving a website, its databases and its email from one host to another. Lowering the DNS cache time a day or two beforehand shortens the switch-over.
